About Sonne Stahl

Sonne Stahl GmbH is a manufacturer and distributor of peeled bright steel bar based in Saarbrücken. In its own plant, round steel is machined by peeling, producing dimensionally precise bright steel bar in the diameter range 12–125 mm with h9 tolerance to DIN EN 10278. In addition, the bars are sawn, chamfered and deburred; milling operations and custom cuts are available on request. Materials include structural steel, case-hardening steel, quenched and tempered steel, and stainless steel. The company supplies customers from mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, wind power, as well as tool steel and precision steel distributors, in more than 25 countries. Quality assurance covers inspection from goods receipt to final inspection, including spectral analysis of the material composition. Delivery is made as single-item shipments or series supply directly to the customer.

Materials & Processes

Schälen

Peeled bar steel

Machining removal of the outer layer of the raw steel yields dimensionally precise bright steel bar with excellent surface quality (h9 to DIN EN 10278).

Sägen

Sawing (band saws)

Precise cutting of the bars to requested lengths as single or series cuts.

Fräsen

Milling

High-precision milling for flat surfaces through to complex geometries according to customer specifications.

Fasen

Chamfering and deburring

Clean chamfers and deburring in standard dimensions or custom angles for safe further processing.

Stahl

Structural steel

Standard material of the bright steel trade for construction and engineering applications.

Stahl

Case-hardening steel

For components that must be wear-resistant after surface hardening.

Stahl

Quenched and tempered steel

Usable annealed or quenched and tempered for highly stressed machine components.

Edelstahl

Stainless steel / stainless sheets

For corrosion-exposed applications, also available as sheet material from stock.
