About us

Stahl- und Maschinenbau Supplie GmbH (SMS), based in Biederitz near Magdeburg, manufactures structural steel components, welded assemblies and complete components for mechanical and plant engineering. The range of services includes laser, flame and plasma cutting of sheet formats up to 8,000 × 2,500 mm (sheet thicknesses up to 40 mm), precision bending up to 7,000 mm working width, round rolling up to 90 mm sheet thickness, as well as welding fabrication in processes 111, 131, 135, 136, 141 and 12. In machining, components up to 14,000 × 5,000 × 1,500 mm and 50 t are machined on a floor-type boring mill and a vertical turning machine. The value chain is complemented by in-house surface preservation with blasting and painting facilities, design engineering, structural calculations and assembly. Customers include companies from wind energy, the defence industry, crane manufacturing, bridge construction, offshore energy technology and rail vehicle manufacturing. The company site offers five production halls with 8,500 m² and approx. 25,000 m² of open space; the heaviest components weigh up to 40 t.
