We forge safety
STB Stahlhammer Bommern has been manufacturing forgings and lifting gear that withstand particularly high static and dynamic loads for more than 100 years. The product range includes double hooks as special designs, eye hooks to DIN 7540, cargo hooks to DIN 82017, traverse hooks and custom load hook suspensions, including electrically insulated, spring-loaded or water-protected versions. Production is carried out as open-die forging and drop forging from forging steel and stainless steel, complemented by machining, in-house toolmaking and the design of forged parts. The experience gained from the forging process flows directly into die design; modern systems and close cooperation with customers reduce lead times and enable forging-based optimisation. The company is based in Hamm, after the operation was relocated there from Bommern (Witten) between 1973 and 1983. Forging technology is used above all for parts with high safety requirements, particularly in lifting gear and crane construction.

Forging processes and materials
Open-die forging
Production of large-format forged parts, e.g. double hooks in sizes 2.5 to 420 and eye hooks in sizes 40 to 44.
Drop forging
Series production of hooks to DIN standards, e.g. eye hooks sizes 27 to 39 and cargo hooks sizes 3 to 20.
Forging steel
Base material for load hooks and forged parts with high safety requirements.
Stainless steel (duplex)
Material for double-hook special designs with increased requirements for corrosion resistance.
