About the Steinbach-Gruppe
The Steinbach-Gruppe is an owner-managed group of companies with around 400 employees in the divisions building materials, construction, waste management and special machinery engineering. In its own quarries in northern Bavaria and southern Thuringia, hard limestone of the Lower Muschelkalk, natural dimension stones such as Muschelkalk, Jura, dolomite and sandstones as well as concrete block stone are extracted and processed; the Salz/Strahlungen plant can produce up to 10,000 tonnes per day. The construction division carries out road and civil engineering, landscaping and construction site logistics with its own machinery fleet, while waste management collects and treats mineral and commercial waste including waste wood processing. In special machinery engineering, FGB has been supplying special machines, test benches, direct drives and eddy current testing systems to international corporations and research institutions since 1971; at the Zella-Mehlis site, FGB manufactures precision parts using CNC turning, 5-axis milling and grinding including coordinate measurement. With ecoglas foam glass made from 98% waste glass and the EMPORIUM brand for building automation and energy management, the group complements its portfolio.

Quality
The Salz/Strahlungen plant was certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 in May 1995 as one of the first plants in the industry in northern Bavaria. In-house laboratories monitor the rock engineering parameters, external monitoring bodies inspect the technical properties twice a year; FGB Zella-Mehlis measures test parts on a ZEISS coordinate measuring machine in a climate-controlled measuring room.
