STEP GmbH was founded in 1996 by Ing. Rudolf Peßl and is a Styrian company in electrical engineering and automation technology headquartered in Gasen with production in Kapfenberg. Its portfolio includes control cabinet construction, since 2025 also process cabinet construction with integration of hydraulics, pneumatics and measurement technology, engineering of sequence and control systems including drive, control and safety technology as well as programming and plant optimization. The company also carries out electrical installation and assembly work on industrial plants, from small installations to renovations to the complete fit-out of large industrial facilities. Since its foundation, alternative energy technology has been a key focus: consulting, detailed analysis, investment and savings calculations, planning and installation of photovoltaic systems as well as development and construction of small wind turbines; as a cooperation partner, STEP contributes know-how to the powerfluxx turbine for harnessing the kinetic energy of flowing waters. The company with 38 employees is certified to EN ISO 9001:2015 (TÜV Austria) and supplies customers from the iron and steel industry as well as the electrical industry.
