About the Foundation
The Stiftung Otto Eckart was established in 1996 by entrepreneur and Consul (ret.) Otto Eckart, longtime owner of the Pfanni-Werke, on the occasion of his 60th birthday. It is a foundation under German civil law based in Munich and is subject to the supervision of the Government of Upper Bavaria. The foundation exclusively supports tax-privileged charitable purposes: child and youth welfare, education, art and culture, international understanding as well as environmental and nature conservation. It operates Das Kartoffelmuseum and the Pfanni-Museum in Munich and annually awards the Prix International Pour Les Enfants, endowed with 10,000 euros. In its first 27 years, around 4 million euros were disbursed for charitable projects, including rainforest reforestation in Guatemala and educational projects in Munich. The foundation is also active in several foundation and education networks.
