About Stockhausen
Stockhausen Superabsorber GmbH, headquartered in Krefeld, is a globally active manufacturer of superabsorbents – superabsorbent polymers based on acrylic acid that absorb liquids, convert them into gel and retain them even under pressure. The main product is FAVOR®, developed since 1985, which can absorb up to 500 times its own weight depending on the type of liquid and is used primarily in baby diapers, feminine hygiene and incontinence products. Further applications include food packaging (FAVOR® Pac with nonwovens), agriculture and the cable industry. Acrylic acid, the main raw material, is produced in-house at the Marl site in the chemical park and is also sold externally. In addition to series production, the company develops customized superabsorbent blends with customers, including odor control, as well as the bio-based FAVOR® Bio. Production and development take place at five sites in Germany and the USA; since 2024 the company has belonged to the International Chemical Investors Group (ICIG).
