About strandgut-keramik
strandgut-keramik is the sole proprietorship workshop of ceramicist Astrid Rohmer in Kalsow (municipality of Benz) on the Baltic Sea. Since March 2007, she has been producing there predominantly series-produced functional tableware from stoneware clay on the potter's wheel, alongside one-of-a-kind pieces such as candlesticks and tea bowls made using the Japanese raku technique. Further methods include the application of glazes as well as slab construction, with which large vessels are made from brick clay. The shapes are based on traditional models with high functional standards and derive their character from throwing ridges and yellow-orange tones. Every ceramic piece is signed with an original shell imprint. The workshop includes a sales room open all year round; wheel-throwing courses and raku firing courses are offered for children and adults, as well as orders, custom-made pieces and participation in pottery and arts and crafts markets in the region.
