The Studio
Stratum is a Geneva design studio with its own workshop in Satigny that produces sculptural furniture, lighting, tables and desks as well as made-to-measure built-in furniture. Every piece is an original drawing by founder and designer Brian Overman and is made individually to order – no series production and no catalogue. The studio works structurally with laminated Baltic birch (Layered Baltic Birch), whose visible plywood edge becomes the design surface; walnut, oak and mahogany veneers are used for surfaces, details and fittings are made of solid brass or Blum hardware systems, and stonework uses Mont Blanc and Taj Mahal quartzite. Production takes place entirely in the studio, with no outsourcing. Clients are private households and renovation projects in Switzerland, France and beyond; the studio works with Level 5 Renovation in Geneva and communicates in English and French.
