About Sumitomo Electric Hartmetall
Sumitomo Electric Hartmetall GmbH (SHG) is the European headquarters of the Sumitomo Electric Industries hardmetal tool division, handling sales, logistics and marketing for Europe and Africa from Willich near Düsseldorf. The company develops, manufactures and distributes cutting tools made of cemented carbide, CBN (SUMIBORON) and sintered diamond (SUMIDIA/PCD), as well as optical components and lenses for laser processing machines. The European production sites are located in Lauchheim (Germany) and Jihlava (Czech Republic); Lauchheim is also home to the European Design and Engineering Center (E-DEC), which offers special tool design and application engineering. The portfolio includes carbide blanks (rods, plates, thin blades, saw blade blanks), wire drawing dies, special tools, and a regrinding service including recoating. A 2,000 m² presentation center offers seminars and machine demonstrations. Customers can be found in the automotive industry, aerospace, electrical engineering/electronics and general mechanical engineering.
