SurA Chemicals GmbH is a chemical company founded in 1998 and headquartered in Bucha near Jena in the Thuringian high-tech region. The company develops and produces protective and decorative paints as well as polyurethane-based coatings (1K, 2K and Dual-Cure), industrial adhesives under the SurABond brand, hydrophobizing agents, silane adhesion promoters, doming resins, plus equipment and materials for surface silication. In addition, the company offers contract manufacturing: precision bonding, paint and functional coatings, surface pretreatment by flame-pyrolytic silication (CCVD) and doming coatings. The treatment processes are suitable for metals such as aluminium and stainless steel, glass, ceramics, plastics, composites as well as technical PES and PA textiles. Customer industries include the micro- and electronics industry, the automotive industry, household and consumer electronics, the advertising industry and the textile industry. As part of nationally and EU-funded projects, the company conducts research together with university and institutional partners, among other things on PFAS-free hydrophobization of technical textiles.
