About us
SurroundPower develops a patented power rail system that replaces the conventional power outlet: a power strip that replaces the baseboard distributes electricity throughout the room, while adapters allow power to be drawn at any point. The system is aimed at office and residential spaces, especially existing buildings where retrofitting outlets is costly. According to the manufacturer, installation is significantly faster and cheaper than conventional outlet installation thanks to the installation process. The company emerged from an industrial project at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (FHSG) based in St. Gallen and was founded as a GmbH in October 2024. The project received support, among others, from the Gebert Rüf Foundation, Venture Kick, Innosuisse and Switzerland Innovation Park East. Due to lack of funding and technical challenges, the project was stopped in 2026.
