About SW-Wil

SW Wil develops and manufactures tools for sawing, milling, drilling and chamfering metals – from standard tools to customised special solutions. A key focus is on carbide-tipped circular saw blades in thin-cut technology (SwissCut HM-Cermet) for cutting tubes, profiles and solid material in all steel grades, including stainless and high-alloy tool steels as well as tram and railway rails. The cutting geometries are simulated with CAD support and field-tested with users; carbide saw blades are PVD-coated. Further product lines are FaBi micro drills made of ultra-fine-grain carbide with TiAlN coating (Ø 0.10–3.00 mm) as well as ferrite impeder cores and protective tubes for induction high-frequency tube welding. The "All in One" complete package includes standard and special tools, a regrinding service in the in-house grinding shop and worldwide door-to-door logistics service. Development and production take place at the headquarters in Wil, Switzerland.

Materials & Processes

TCT

Carbide (TCT, with cermet)

Carbide-tipped cutting edges of the SwissCut thin-cut saw blades, further developed together with a Swiss manufacturer.

VHM

Ultra-fine-grain carbide (VHM) with TiAlN coating

Material of the FaBi micro drills Ø 0.10–3.00 mm for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nickel steel and plastic (PA).

HSS

Saw blade base body material

Base body material selected according to metallurgical and vibration-related criteria.

Ferrit

Ferrite (impeder core)

Ferrite cores (μi 1800 ± 25 %, Curie temperature >210 °C) for bundling the field lines during induction high-frequency tube welding.

SiGlass

Silicone glass

Material for impeder protective tubes, alternatively epoxy glass.
