About SWS Power Solutions
SWS PS Power Solutions GmbH, based in Graz, develops the SWS-PowerBox®, the energy and data platform for the intelligent freight wagon. A hydraulic axle generator converts the wagon's kinetic energy during travel into electricity (recuperation 4.5–18 kW), while a rechargeable lithium iron phosphate battery storage system (20–80 kWh) covers standstill and shunting operation and supplies refrigerated containers, refrigerated swap bodies and tank containers emission-free. The system is available as a Tower version for pocket wagons (80', 90', 104') and as an Underframe version for flat wagons (60', 80', 90', 104') and is suitable for both retrofit and new builds. Series production of the Underframe system takes place at a Swiss manufacturing partner; SWS itself develops hardware, software and data services in Graz. Every unit is connected to the SWS monitoring platform: live data, alarms, remote servicing, ticketing system, predictive maintenance and CO₂ reporting. Customers include wagon keepers, railway operators, terminals, ports and freight forwarders; over 140 systems are in operation across Europe, including on routes such as Hamburg–Budapest, Oslo–Narvik and Wrocław–Koper.
