About TAOASIS

TAOASIS GmbH is a natural fragrance manufactory founded in 1991 by Axel Meyer and based in Lage (Ostwestfalen-Lippe). The owner-managed family business produces essential oils, fragrance compositions, room sprays, hydrolats and natural cosmetics such as base and massage oils, creams and balms – exclusively based on 100% natural raw materials from certified organic or Demeter cultivation. The value chain ranges from its own biodynamic cultivation on the Demeter-certified TaoFarm (around 20 hectares of lavender, rosemary, yarrow, lemon balm and wildflowers) through distillation at the company headquarters to formulation and product development in the in-house laboratory. In addition to the TAOASIS, Baldini and Meditao brands, the company offers white-label/private-label production from 1,000 units as well as bulk deliveries of essential oils. The products are distributed via pharmacies in Germany and Austria, the organic retail trade and its own stores; around 60 employees work at the headquarters in Lage.

Raw materials are divided into product categories and tested in the in-house laboratory, including refractive index, relative density, optical rotation and density determination of proprietary blends; in addition, stability tests and sample testing of new oils and suppliers are carried out. Axel Meyer founds the TAOASIS book publishing house ("Living in Harmony with Nature").
1991
Founding of the TAOASIS natural fragrance manufactory; sale of the first 33 essential oils exclusively via pharmacies; publication of "Das kleine Lexikon der Düfte" (The Little Lexicon of Fragrances).
2001
Introduction of the official German organic seal (EU Organic Regulation, organic control body DE-ÖKO-013) for the products.
2011
Govinda Meyer, son of Axel Meyer, becomes second managing director.
2012
Start of lavender cultivation at the former Detmold site.
2018
Founding of the Demeter-certified TaoFarm; the company becomes a balance-sheet company of the Economy for the Common Good.

Expansion of cultivation areas with cultivation partners in France and Italy (including Damask roses).
