About THGA
The Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola (THGA) is a state-recognized, over 200-year-old engineering university in Bochum that evolved from a traditional mining school. As a non-independent operating unit of the DMT-Gesellschaft für Lehre und Bildung (DMT-LB), it offers nine Bachelor's and seven Master's degree programs in mechanical engineering, applied materials science, electrical and information engineering, process and environmental engineering, geotechnics, mineral resources extraction and recycling, as well as industrial engineering, some of them part-time or practice-integrated. In modern laboratories for mechanical engineering, materials science, geo-resources, process engineering and electrical engineering, projects on high-tech materials, recycling processes, automation and Industry 4.0 are carried out. The Post-Mining Research Center, unique worldwide, studies the perpetual tasks of mining. Through knowledge and technology transfer, the THGA offers companies service and contract research projects as well as support with spin-offs. The curriculum was developed, among others, with ThyssenKrupp Steel and Deutsche Edelstahlwerke; around 80 percent of final theses address practical questions.
