About TU Clausthal

Technische Universität Clausthal is a public university of the state of Lower Saxony, located in Clausthal-Zellerfeld in the Upper Harz. Emerging from a mining academy founded in 1775, today it teaches with around 85 professors, around 3,000 students and around 1,100 employees in the engineering, natural and economic sciences as well as computer science. The overarching guiding theme is the Circular Economy, with the four research fields of Sustainable Energy Systems, Raw Material Security and Resource Efficiency, Sustainable Materials and Processes, and Digitalization for a Sustainable Society. The university is structured into two faculties, 28 institutes and five interdisciplinary scientific centers; the institutes conduct work, among other things, on metallurgy, materials science and materials engineering, welding technology and separating manufacturing processes, as well as polymer materials and plastics engineering. Through its Service Center for Research and Transfer, it mediates cooperation between science and industry, advises on inventions and patents, and operates technology transfer. In addition to the main site, there are the Energy Campus Goslar with the Energy Research Center of Lower Saxony (EFZN) and the Drilling Simulator Celle as the German Center for High-Performance Drilling Technology and Automation.
