About TU Wien
Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) is Austria's largest research and education institution in engineering and the natural sciences, founded in 1815 as the k. k. polytechnisches Institut. More than 4,000 researchers work across eight faculties in five research focus areas: Computational Science and Engineering, Quantum Physics and Quantum Technologies, Materials and Matter, Information and Communication Technology, and Energy and Environment. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering addresses, among other topics, energy, materials, production and digital engineering. In the field of materials and production technology, TU Wien offers technologies through its patent and license management, such as vibration-assisted hybrid machining (Machine Hammer Peening), additive manufacturing of high-performance thermosets (Hot Lithography), magnetron sputter coating of powders, low-temperature sintered sintered steels based on molybdenum masteralloy powders, and electrochemically recrystallized metal nanostructures. Through its research and technology transfer services, continuing education, IT services and research cooperations, the university collaborates with industry and the public sector. Locations are centrally situated in Vienna, including Karlsplatz, Getreidemarkt, Gußhaus and Freihaus.
