Analog studio technology from Berlin-Tegel
Tegeler Audio Manufaktur GmbH was founded in 2005 by audio engineer Michael Krusch in Berlin-Tegel and manufactures analog studio equipment by hand. The portfolio includes Vari-Mu tube compressors, passive tube equalizers, channel strips, a tube reverb unit, transient shapers, analog summing mixers as well as modules in the API-500er format. A special feature is remote controllability: with motorized potentiometers, an Ethernet connection and its own DAW plug-in, analog devices can be recalled digitally from within the session without leaving the audio signal path. In addition to hardware, the company develops software such as the reverb plug-in Raummaschine, which is based on the algorithm of the tube reverb Raumzeitmaschine. Each unit is built by hand at the Weststraße 1 site in Berlin-Tegel, measured on the test bench and tested under real production conditions in the adjacent studio. Distribution is direct with a flat distribution structure; dealers can be found on five continents. Users include recording studios, mastering and live mixing engineers, among them Al Schmitt (Capitol Studios) and the live sound engineer of Sepultura.

Components and Technologies
Tubes
Core component of the compressors, equalizers and the tube reverb for transfer curve and tonal character.
Transformers
Used in signal paths for low-frequency saturation and galvanic isolation.
VCA/Opto stage
Control elements of the compressor units such as Magnetismus 2, MythVCA 500 and Vocal Leveler 500.
Motorized potentiometers and Ethernet
Enable an analog signal path that remains analog with digital recall via DAW plug-in.

Quality
After hand assembly, every unit is measured on the test bench and then tested in the adjacent studio under real production conditions before leaving the factory. There is an RMA process for service and repairs; in the USA a service partner handles the processing.
