About us

Surya Kretek is a Bremen-based trading company for Indonesian tobacco products, tea and essential oils. The business was founded on 15 June 1991 by Mr Salim as Surya Kretek Handels- und Entwicklungs GmbH, initially with clove cigarettes of the Gudang Garam brand; this distribution no longer exists today. As of 1 January 2023, Teresia Salim took over the business as a sole proprietorship. Distributed products include hand-rolled cigars and cigarillos of the Prominent brand as well as kretek cigars and kretek cigarillos with clove flavour made from Indonesian tobacco varieties such as Besuki tobacco from East Java, plus tea of the Greatland brand (green, white, black and oolong tea, with the black tea coming from the foot of the Kerinci volcano on Sumatra) and garden furniture. All products are imported from Indonesia and sold via two proprietary online shops as well as directly.
