About terranets bw
terranets bw GmbH, based in Stuttgart, is the long-distance gas transmission network operator for Baden-Württemberg. With the Hydrogen Initiative for Baden-Württemberg (h2-fuer-bw.de), the company is working to establish a pipeline-bound hydrogen supply in the state and to enable hydrogen use from 2030. The foundation for this is the existing natural gas infrastructure, which is to be gradually converted to hydrogen following the planned natural gas phase-out; new construction projects are designed h2ready wherever possible. To this end, terranets bw conducts network development and demand survey processes, carries out hydrogen enquiries, and informs politicians, businesses and municipalities about the path to a hydrogen economy. The initiative is part of the planning of a nationwide German hydrogen core network with connection to the European Hydrogen Backbone.
