Terrawater is a company based in Kiel specializing in chemical-free thermal water treatment. Its patent-protected technology uses waste heat (e.g. gas engine heat) for energy-efficient desalination of seawater as well as the concentration of waters, brines and wastewaters up to salt crystallization (Zero Liquid Discharge). The product portfolio includes the desalination systems TerraBasic and TerraSaline, the concentration systems TerraPreCon (modular in 20' HighCube containers) and TerraOrganic for biological wastewaters, the conversion of ammonium sulfate solution (ASL) into SSA fertilizer with TerraSaline S (ASL) and TerraGranulator, as well as the series production of plastic condensers and heat exchangers as the heart of the plants. Terrawater plans and implements complete process chains – from seawater intake through concentration and salt separation to drying and screening, as in the sea salt production plant on Sylt (70 kg of salt and 2,500 l of distillate per day). Industries include biogas, wastewater and environmental engineering, seawater desalination, agriculture, municipal wastewater treatment, and island and offshore applications. Since 2023, TERRAWATER has been integrated into TAPROGGE GmbH as a competence and technology brand; the Kiel site operates as TAPROGGE Kiel Branch.
