About The Vegetarian Butcher
The Vegetarian Butcher is a Dutch food company founded in 2010, headquartered in Holten, that develops and produces plant-based meat alternatives. Starting from a butcher's shop in The Hague, products such as burgers, schnitzels, nuggets, filets, strips and ground meat were created based on textured soy and wheat protein, enriched with, among other things, vitamin B12 and iron. The products are processed from natural ingredients into a meat-like texture using techniques such as heating, grinding, cooling and mixing, and are developed together with chefs and product developers. In addition to retail, the company also supplies the gastronomy sector and cooperates with manufacturers such as Unilever (Unox brand). Since 2015, the company has been producing in its own factory in Holten. The management consists of Willem van Weede and, from 1 August, Rutger Rozendaal; the legal form is Vivera Topholding B.V.
