About thurm
Thurm GmbH is a specialised one-stop supplier of device enclosures, front panels, front foils and type plates, headquartered in Ostermünchen near Bad Aibling in Upper Bavaria. The company manufactures mechanical parts by CNC milling, CNC turning, punching, laser cutting, bending and welding from aluminium, stainless steel (V2A), steel, brass, copper, plastics such as POM and Plexiglas as well as cast metals. In its own surface treatment department, painting, powder coating, anodising, electroplating and Surtec 650 are offered; in the printing department, screen printing, pad printing, sub-anodised printing, digital printing and laser marking. Production ranges from one-off pieces and prototypes (including 3D printing on Connex and EOS systems) to large-scale series, complemented by complete and sub-assembly mounting, kitting, warehousing and just-in-time delivery. Customers come from the electrical industry, medical technology, optical technology, mechanical engineering as well as aerospace – type plates from thurm fly on Astrium satellites, and NASA front panels are installed on the ISS. Founded in 1950 as a graphics company, the family business is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and has been producing since 2019 in a new production centre in Ostermünchen.

Materials and Processes
Aluminium
Main material for enclosures, front panels and type plates, also as pure aluminium foil and with special coating for aerospace applications.
Stainless steel (V2A)
For mechanically and chemically stressed parts, type plates and the stainless steel base of the customer stoppers.
Steel
Material for mechanical components in CNC manufacturing.
Brass
For milled, punched and laser-cut precision parts.
Copper
For mechanical components in machining production.
POM
Plastic for mechanically manufactured parts.
Plexiglas (PMMA)
Used among other things for scratch-resistant front panels with micron-precise laser cut-outs.
Polyester
Foil material for type plates and labels.
Cast metal
Material for mechanical components in CNC machining.
