Company
TIMM Stahlformenbau GmbH in Wülfrath has been developing and producing demanding injection moulding and die-casting moulds since 1978, including multi-cavity, two-component and GID tools as well as tools with collapsible cores and overmoulded inserts. More than 1,800 realised tools document experience in the automotive industry, electrical and automation engineering, telecommunications and medical technology. Production includes HSC milling, sinker EDM, wire EDM, surface grinding and manual fine finishing, complemented by EROWA robot automation for workpiece and electrode handling as well as an MES for digital process control. 3D tool design and CAM programming are carried out end-to-end in Cimatron, supported on a project basis by mould filling and warpage simulation. Tools are manufactured up to 1,000 × 800 mm and 4 tonnes in weight; particularly precision-relevant machining and measurement take place in a climate-controlled precision area. Quality management is certified to DIN ISO 9001:2015.

Manufacturing Processes
HSC Milling
Precise 3D contours, mould inserts, electrodes and complex tool components with coordinated roughing and finishing strategies.
Sinker EDM
Deep contours, narrow and hard-to-reach areas as well as defined mould details, also automated with electrode handling.
Wire EDM
Precise contours and through openings in electrically conductive materials, including hardened tool components.
Surface Grinding
Defined flat surfaces and functional areas on tool components.
Manual Fine Finishing
Fitting, deburring, polishing and tool assembly alignment.
Cimatron CAD/CAM
End-to-end 3D design and CAM programming without format changes between design and production planning.
MES / digital process control
Linking of workpieces, programs, machining statuses and measurement data into a transparent production process.
3D Coordinate Metrology
Comparison of manufactured components with the digital target model, including integrated intermediate inspections.

Quality
Production is certified to DIN ISO 9001:2015. 3D coordinate metrology is an integral part of the manufacturing process: components and electrodes are compared with the digital target model and only released for the next process step once tolerances are met; precision-relevant tasks take place in a climate-controlled precision area.
