About Tom Binder Design
TOM BINDER DESIGN is a one-man business of designer and carpenter Thomas (Tom) Binder based in Munich (Am Oberwiesenfeld 55). Only custom-made one-of-a-kind pieces are created: dining tables, side tables made from tree discs and blocks, as well as stools and benches made from solid wood elements. Local woods such as oak, ash, maple, walnut, beech and bog oak are used, mostly air-dried and stored for years, often sourced from forest maintenance or from environmental damage. Special techniques include gilding with pure 24-carat gold leaf and surface finishing with plant-based bio oils, with no chemical substances used throughout the entire work process. Fine cuts in the surface are partly made with a chainsaw. The offer includes personal consultation, design with sketches and samples, custom manufacturing as well as delivery and assembly at the customer's premises; packaging is reused or recycled. Customers come from the residential sector, gastronomy and retail.

My Story
Tom Binder learns the carpentry trade before his design studies and subsequently works as a designer for more than 20 years.
Around 10 years ago, return to woodworking and revival of his grandfather's old workshop in the Tyrolean mountains; first major work is a dining table for his own home.
