About TKK GmbH

The Ton- und Kieswerke (TKK) GmbH operates a gravel plant on an area of 400,000 m² at its headquarters in Horka, OT Biehain, near Görlitz in Saxony. At the gravel plant, gravel sands are extracted in dry screening; the raw gravel in the 0/32 mm grading is frost-resistant, impact-resistant, free of harmful constituents, and suitable as a concrete aggregate as well as a frost protection material in road construction. The product was tested as part of external monitoring according to TL SoB-StB 04 / TL Gestein-StB 04 by BAU-ZERT e.V. In addition to gravel extraction, since 2014 the company has operated a recycling yard pursuant to § 4 BImSchG for the utilization of construction rubble, brick, bitumen mixtures, soil and stones, excavated material and track ballast, as well as the sale of RC material. The site also houses the Biehain landfill (DK I), which has been closed since 2017 and is in the decommissioning phase with recultivation. The range of services is complemented by waste consulting, analysis preparation by an accredited laboratory, and logistical solutions.
