About Top Seal
Top Seal Maschinenschutzscheiben GmbH is a specialized manufacturer of safety windows for machine tools headquartered in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. Since 2010, the company has produced guard windows for existing machine tools and original equipment – from simple polycarbonate panes to multi-layer composite panes made of safety glass and polycarbonate. All products are made in the company's own production hall in Friedrichshafen, supported since 2019 by its own dosing and bonding system for full-surface PU adhesive bonding. Five product lines cover various protection classes: SafetyGlass PU and LZR (glass-PC composite, 8-year replacement interval), SafetyPoly (double PC), SafetyFilm (PC with protective film on both sides) and SafetyBasic (pure PC for dry machining). The design is standards-compliant in accordance with ISO 23125, ISO 16090-1 and ISO 16089 with resistance classes A1 to C3. The service portfolio includes technical consulting, on-site or remote surveying, CAD design, single-unit and series production, installation service at the customer's site, as well as test certificates and replacement interval documentation in accordance with BetrSichV. Customers include machine manufacturers, operators, service providers, tool and die makers, and companies from the automotive and aerospace industries – mostly in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, occasionally in Austria. More than 22,000 guard windows have already been installed.

Materials and Processes
Polycarbonate
Retaining layer of all panes; high impact strength through plastic deformation without splinter formation.
Safety glass
Inner layer in the SafetyGlass variants; scratch-resistant and resistant to coolant and chips.
Polyurethane adhesive (2 mm)
Full-surface bonding of glass and PC; binds glass shards in the event of breakage and compensates for thermal expansion.
Protective film (100 µm)
Two-sided or outer-side protection against coolant, oils, solvents and UV radiation.
Aluminium edge band
Seals all pane edges against coolant penetration.
