Toyota Deutschland GmbH, headquartered in Cologne-Marsdorf, is the German sales company of Toyota Motor Corporation. Toyota vehicles have been sold in Germany since 1971, initially through an independent importer; in 1974 Toyota Motor Corporation took over the company as a subsidiary. Since 1990, the premium brand Lexus has also been sold. The company supports a dealer network with more than 500 locations and over 9,000 employees in the network. In total, around 900 employees work at the company headquarters on Toyota-Allee in Cologne-Marsdorf, including Toyota Financial Services. The range of services includes new and used vehicle sales for the Toyota and Lexus brands, the KINTO car subscription, financing and leasing offers through Toyota Financial Services, and an online accessories shop operated by Toyota Deutschland GmbH for Toyota Genuine Accessories. In 2005, Toyota Deutschland GmbH was consolidated, together with eleven other European Toyota importers, under the umbrella organization Toyota Motor Europe based in Brussels. No manufacturing or industrial value creation takes place at the German location; the profile is limited to documented sales and service activities.
