About the Association
The Trachtenkapelle St. Märgen-Glashütte e.V. is a brass music association founded in 1911 in the district of Glashütte in the municipality of St. Märgen in the High Black Forest. In 2024 the association counts 33 active musicians as well as five young musicians. Its repertoire comprises traditional and Bohemian-Moravian brass music, concertante light music as well as modern pieces and medleys. Regular performances include the annual spring and double concert at the Schwarzwaldhalle Neukirch, spa and theme concerts in St. Märgen, the musical accompaniment of church high masses as well as morning concerts (Frühschoppen). Since 2024, Roland Willmann has been the association's musical director. In addition, the association runs a youth musician training programme with its own youth leadership and youth conductor, and sees itself as a convivial meeting place for the district, which has about 120 inhabitants. The rehearsal premises are located at the edge of the Hexenloch and are marked on the façade by the coat of arms of the former municipality of Hinterstraß. As part of the funding project Neustart Amateurmusik (Restart Amateur Music), the association has been modernising its appearance and recruiting new members since 2022.
