About Padre Azul
Tradition Mexico GmbH, based in Wattens (Tyrol), distributes the tequila brand Padre Azul, founded in 2014. The tequila is produced in the Valley of Amatitán in Jalisco, Mexico, from 100 % blue Weber agave, which is harvested by hand by jimadores after 8 to 10 years of growth. Around 10 kilos of agave are used per litre. Production follows traditional methods: 48 hours of steaming the agaves in ovens made of masonry and volcanic earth (mamposterías) plus 24 hours of residual heat, double distillation with separation of heads and tails, and maturation in toasted ex-bourbon oak barrels (Reposado 8 months, Añejo 18 months; Blanco bottled directly). Production takes place in Mexico under the direction of Master Distiller Erika Sangeado; the company handles sales, EU online shop fulfilment and distribution in Europe via partners in Switzerland and the USA.
