LFP Batteries from Germany

TRION Battery GmbH manufactures high-performance lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries based on the cell-to-pack principle: from electrode production through cell assembly to final pack assembly, the entire production takes place at the plant in Ottendorf-Okrilla near Dresden. The production equipment was originally developed for Tier-1 EV battery manufacturing, including Grohmann-designed systems; the installed capacity exceeds 1 million cells or 500 MWh per year. Founded in 2014 as Liacon in Itzehoe, the company acquired in 2017 the equipment of a former battery manufacturing plant near Dresden as part of an asset deal; since July 2022, TRION has been part of the Trion Group of Companies. In addition to LFP series production, TRION conducts research and development on silicon anode materials (SX-Silicon) and proprietary electrolyte technology. Fields of application include recreational vehicles, boats, logistics, energy storage, fleets and defense applications.

Quality Assurance

Every battery system undergoes multi-stage environmental testing in Dresden, such as thermal cycling, vibration and high-load pulse discharge; adaptive QA algorithms trigger in-depth analyses when deviations exceed thresholds. Production is digitally monitored from cell treatment through final assembly and designed to standards such as UN 38.3 and IEC as well as transport regulations.
