About Trumer Privatbrauerei
Trumer Privatbrauerei is a family brewery in Obertrum am See in the Flachgau region of Salzburg, whose origins go back to the brewing license granted in 1601. Since 1775 the company has been owned by the Sigl family and is currently run by Josef C. Sigl in the eighth generation. The brewery produces beers according to the German Purity Law, including the core brand Trumer Pils as well as other varieties such as the Obertrumer Original beers and the organic product SIGL. A characteristic feature is the patented, labor-intensive open fermentation in the brewery's own fermentation cellar, in which flavor-damaging substances are removed from the beer; pasteurization is dispensed with, and only natural hops from selected hop growers are used. Customers include gastronomy, hotels and retail. Since 2004, the brewery operated US production with the Gambrinus Company in Berkeley, California, which was closed in 2026 after the sale of Trumer Pils USA to Duvel Moortgat; production for the US market has since been carried out by Firestone Walker. The company also offers brewery tours, brew-your-own sessions and beer sommelier courses.
