About UBITO
UBITO is a brand of the FRABA Group based in Roermond (Netherlands) and specializes in Wiegand sensing and energy harvesting. The company produces Wiegand wire made from Vicalloy (an alloy of vanadium, iron and cobalt) as well as Wiegand sensors in SMD packages, which enable magnetic, event-driven detection without external voltage or power supply. The pulse energy can power ultra-low-power electronics or supply wireless communication. The manufacturing process is based on the original machine acquired from John Wiegand by FRABA, including his laboratory records, which has been automated and optimized for quality and consistency. Production takes place on computer-controlled, semi-automated systems with full traceability from ordering through assembly and testing to delivery. Target industries include drives and robotics, elevators, renewable energies, medical technology, offshore and IoT.

Materials & Processes
Vicalloy (vanadium-iron-cobalt alloy)
Base material for Wiegand wire; cold working creates a core and shell with different coercive field strengths.
Copper
Fine coil around the Wiegand wire in which the current pulse is induced.
Structural steel (soft magnetic)
Mentioned as a reference for soft magnetic materials with low coercive field strength.
Wiegand wire manufacturing
Annealing under simultaneous drawing and twisting as aggressive cold working to alter the structure.
SMD packaging
Wiegand sensors (wire plus copper coil) in surface-mountable packages.
Computer-controlled, semi-automated assembly and testing
Tracking of every device from ordering through to final delivery.

History
- 1970er
Discovery of the Wiegand effect by the American inventor John Wiegand.
FRABA acquired the Wiegand wire production machine from John Wiegand along with his laboratory records.
More than 15 years of building Wiegand expertise under the POSITAL brand, including Wiegand wire production and Wiegand sensors in multiturn rotary encoders.
Launch of UBITO as a new brand of the FRABA Group to bring Wiegand technology into new market segments.
