About Uhrhan & Schwill Schweißtechnik
Uhrhan & Schwill Schweißtechnik – Lincoln Electric GmbH in Essen has specialised since 1963 in the planning, development, design, manufacture and assembly of special welding systems for large-diameter pipe mills. The product range includes 1-wire tack welding systems for metal active gas welding (MAG) as well as multi-wire internal and external welding systems for submerged arc welding (SAW) with up to five welding wires. The systems are designed in customised plant engineering to match customers' production programmes; in addition, existing systems are upgraded. More than 300 systems have been commissioned in over 35 large-diameter pipe mills worldwide. The offering also includes welding power sources, welding consumables such as wire-powder combinations, powder supply systems, ground brush systems and the Digital Welding System Z5 for quality assurance. A test laboratory at the site serves the continuous optimisation of systems and processes. The systems are used in longitudinal seam and spiral pipe mills.

Welding Processes and Materials
Metal active gas welding (MAG)
Arc welding process with active gas; used in the 1-wire tack welding systems to produce the tack weld prior to SAW welding.
Submerged arc welding (SAW)
Electric fusion welding process under a layer of welding flux with high deposition rate; used in the multi-wire internal and external welding systems for longitudinal and spiral seams.
Steel (plate for large-diameter pipes)
Base material of the large-diameter pipe ends welded in the systems, made from plate.
