About UMECS
UMECS UG is a developer of individual mobility concepts specializing in urban niche markets, headquartered in Ostfildern near Stuttgart. The company designs and integrates electric vehicles for niche applications that are uninteresting for classic high-volume OEMs, for example in the fields of e-mobility, logistics and car sharing. At the core of the technology is a flexible and robust fiber composite body structure that also permits natural fibers and new sustainable material combinations. Together with the technology partner TechnoCarbon, a spin-off of the University of Munich, a Stone Composite Technology is being investigated: a hybrid material made of carbon fibers (derived from algae oil) and stone such as granite, with the strength of steel at a specific weight similar to aluminum. Using a platform approach, a fully functional prototype is created in eight months and small-series production in 24 months; thanks to reduced complexity, solutions are profitable even at low volumes. The product portfolio also includes modular energy storage systems (batteries, hydrogen fuel cell, Energy Cube) with technology partner Unicorn Energy as well as drive technology such as 48V in-wheel solutions with Schäffler and connectivity concepts for fleet customers.

Materials & Technologies
Fiber Composite Technology
Highly innovative fiber composite structure that enables a flexible and robust body structure and also permits the use of natural fibers.
Stone Composite Technology (Carbon/Stone)
Hybrid material made of carbon and granite that, due to its properties, is excellently suited for vehicle construction (strength of steel at a specific weight similar to aluminum).
Carbon Fibers from Algae Oil
Carbon fibers investigated with TechnoCarbon that bind CO₂ from the air during production.
Natural Fibers
Sustainable material combinations that can be used flexibly in the fiber composite structure.
