About Unitech Keramik

UNI-TECH KERAMIK GmbH from Berkatal (Frankenhain) in North Hesse is a manufacturer of technical ceramics with the business units industrial furnace construction and thermal technology, foundry supplies, burner ceramics and ceramic fiber products. In addition to the manufacture and marketing of standard products, a key focus is on the development and production of custom components. In the foundry sector, the company manufactures casting nozzles and control stoppers for continuous casting plants made of Fused Silica; in the burner sector, flame tubes and nub recuperators. Its own fiber production includes Fiberfrax® raw fibers made from alumina, silicon dioxide and zircon sand, which are melted in an electric arc furnace at over 2000 °C and processed into fibers by spinning or blowing; from these, needled mats, wet-process papers, felts and high-temperature-resistant Duraboard® boards are produced. The product range is complemented by biosoluble Insulfrax® fibers based on calcium-magnesium-silicate up to 1100 °C, Fixwool® adhesives and coatings, as well as industrial furnace construction including planning in accordance with applicable safety regulations. Customers come from industrial furnace construction, foundry technology, thermal insulation, burner technology and fire protection.

Materials and Processes

FS

Fused Silica

Material for casting nozzles and control stoppers for continuous casting plants.

Fiberfrax

High-temperature ceramic fibers (alumina, silicon dioxide, zircon sand)

Basis for raw fibers, mats, papers, felts and Duraboard® boards for thermal insulation.

Insulfrax

Calcium-magnesium-silicate fibers

Biosoluble high-temperature fiber without hazardous substance classification, stable up to 1100 °C.

Fixwool

Adhesives and coatings

For bonding mats, felts, papers, boards and modules to metallic surfaces.

Al-Folie

Aluminium foil

Bonded to the mat in the Insulfrax SF™ process, e.g. for fire protection and vapor barrier.
