Universität Rostock

About the University of Rostock

Founded in 1419, the University of Rostock is the oldest university in the Baltic Sea region. It is a public-law higher education institution of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with around 2,300 employees. The university offers teaching and research across nine faculties, including the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology with its focus areas of mechanical engineering and marine technology. It is not an industrial manufacturing operation; no components are produced in series. Companies have opportunities for cooperation in research and development, among other things through the Service Centre Projects for Research, Teaching and Transfer, which provides advice on DFG and EU projects as well as contract research. The university's sites are located in the Hanseatic city of Rostock, including the main building at Universitätsplatz 1 and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology at Albert-Einstein-Straße 2.
