About Valoron
Valoron GmbH, based in Munich, is developing a thermochemical process for converting mixed waste into chemicals and fuels. Municipal waste, unsorted plastics and biowaste can be used as feedstock without pre-sorting; a single process handles all material streams. According to the company, the process achieves a carbon recycling efficiency of over 95 percent, an energy efficiency of over 80 percent, and reduces CO2 emissions by around 90 percent compared to the status quo, because the carbon contained in the waste is utilized instead of incineration or landfilling. The products generated are drop-in fuels for shipping, transport and aviation as well as raw material feedstock for the chemical industry. The technology is based on several years of research at the Technical University of Munich and is in transition from laboratory to commercial scale. The interdisciplinary team combines mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and business expertise.
