About VARTA
VARTA AG, headquartered in Ellwangen, develops and produces battery cells and battery systems in numerous electrochemical systems, including lithium-ion, nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), alkaline-manganese, silver oxide, zinc-air and lithium primary cells. The portfolio ranges from micro batteries for hearing aids and electronics to lithium-ion CoinPower cells and custom battery packs (Power Pack Solutions) to home and industrial storage systems such as VARTA.wall and VARTA.hybrid.wall. Development proceeds from the initial idea through prototype construction to transfer into highly automated large-scale production; the electronics and software of the battery packs are developed in-house. Customers come from hearing acoustics, medical technology, automotive, consumer electronics, IoT, telecommunications, robotics and energy storage. The Group employs around 4,200 people, of whom about 200 in research and development, and operates five production facilities in Europe and Asia as well as research locations in Ellwangen, Nördlingen and Graz.
