About the association

The Verein für Orts- und Heimatkunde Dorsten e.V. is a registered association founded in 1888 and based in Dorsten. It does not manufacture industrial components, but is engaged in cultural and educational work. Its projects include the history stations throughout the city area, the commemorative plaque series StandPUNKT, the Lippe Biberbande project, and the leaflet Dorsten Einst und Jetzt, published in cooperation with the city archives. The association makes sources on local and regional history available, processes topics of regional history and folklore, offers lecture events on the history of the region, and organizes excursions with a regional focus, including guided tours of the old town and monument tours. It supports the Heimatbund Herrlichkeit Lembeck und Stadt Dorsten e.V. with contributions to the Heimatkalender and cooperates with other associations of similar aims, such as the Jewish Museum Westphalia. Membership entails an annual fee of 12 Euro. The chairman is Dr. Josef Ulfkotte.
