Verein Historische Uniformen Treuchtlingen e.V.

About the Association

The Association of Historical Uniforms Treuchtlingen e.V. is a non-profit registered association from Treuchtlingen dedicated to collecting, restoring and preserving original artefacts of uniform history – including helmets, uniforms, orders, decorations, uniform insignia, small parts and pictures. The association owns around 120 uniforms and exhibits and presents uniform history from 1860 to the present at parades, town and museum festivals, exhibitions and lectures, including fire brigades, the 1900 municipal police, rural gendarmes, Red Cross, civil protection, the Bundeswehr and GDR uniforms. The association was founded on 31.01.2007 in Treuchtlingen following a preliminary meeting on 06.12.2006; as early as September 2006 a uniform group had taken part in the parade in Gunzenhausen. In 2007 a FIAT was converted into a fire brigade vehicle at the company König in Bubenheim, and the non-profit status was approved. The association's clubhouse is the Wallmüller-Stuben at Hauptstr. 2 in Treuchtlingen; a display case on the city wall was assigned to the association by the town. A museum for uniforms, orders and decorations as well as fire engine models is planned.
