About Vestre

Vestre is a Scandinavian manufacturer of street furniture for public spaces: benches, seating groups, litter bins, pergolas and other furniture objects for cities, parks, schools, streets and waterfronts. Production takes place entirely in its own plants in Scandinavia: at the Vestre Steel Factory in Torsby (Sweden), steel sheets of 2–20 mm are cut with laser machines and welded manually and with industrial robots; at The Plus in Magnor (Norway), powder coating (corrosivity class C5, over 200 RAL colours), wood processing and assembly take place. Steel components are hot-dip galvanized in a zinc bath at 450 °C, finished with solvent-free powder coating and assembled by hand using stainless or acid-resistant fasteners. Materials used include, among others, fossil-free steel from SSAB, Corten steel, recycled aluminium (Hydro CIRCAL, at least 75 %) as well as FSC-certified Scandinavian pine, Kebony and oak. With 133 employees, Vestre supplies 27 markets worldwide and achieved net revenue of NOK 426 million in 2025.

Materials and Processes

Stahl

Steel (2–20 mm)

Base material for frames and structures, alloyed for the combination of hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating.

SSAB

Fossil-free steel (SSAB)

Steel produced using hydrogen of the same strength, used since 2023 among others in the TELLUS bench.

Corten

Corten steel

Weather-resistant steel with a protective rust layer, available for sheet-metal components for outdoor use.

AlMg

Aluminium Hydro CIRCAL

Aluminium with at least 75 % recycled post-consumer scrap for reduced energy consumption.

Edelstahl

Stainless/acid-resistant steel

Used for all screws and fasteners.

Kiefer

Scandinavian pine (Pinus sylvestris, FSC)

Linax-impregnated, 80–120 year old wood with linseed oil impregnation for outdoor use.

Kebony

Kebony Clear (Pinus radiata)

Patented treated wood with a Brinell hardness of 4.3, particularly hard and rot-resistant for outdoor use.

Eiche

Oak (Quercus alba/robur)

Wood treated with Timberex and Osmo oils for indoor applications.

FE-ZN

Hot-dip galvanizing

Zinc bath at 450 °C provides decades of rust protection with a self-healing effect in case of damage.

PULVER

Powder coating

Solvent-free, robot-assisted coating in over 200 RAL colours up to corrosivity class C5.

LINAX

Linax impregnation

Copper-based UC3 pressure impregnation followed by vacuum cooking in linseed oil (2–3 mm penetration depth).

KEB-TR

Kebony treatment

Patented Norwegian process using biobased liquids to harden the wood.
