About Vogl Electronic
Founded in 1986, Vogl Electronic GmbH is an owner-managed family company based in Salching (Bavaria), specialising in optoelectronic safety systems for gas-insulated high-voltage switchgear (GIS/GIL), air-insulated medium-voltage installations and transformers. The portfolio includes light receivers as a base module, the LiBo arc detection system, the OTEM optical partial discharge monitoring system for AC and DC installations, and ESK earth fault detection for medium voltage up to 110 kV. The systems detect light phenomena inside the installations via light sensors and optical fibre cables and evaluate the signals with immunity against electromagnetic sources; they are suitable both for new installations and for retrofitting in existing installations. The offering is complemented by custom developments such as light sensors, measuring adapters, measuring devices and complete systems as well as services: mobile PD diagnostics (optical/UHF), commissioning and certified training. Customers include transmission system operators, energy suppliers and leading manufacturers of high- and medium-voltage installations in more than 20 countries; to date, more than 70,000 gas compartments have been monitored.

Technologies & Processes
Optical sensor technology (light receivers)
Passive base module for detecting the smallest optical signals from gas compartments of GIS/GIL and transformers.
Optical fibre transmission
Immune signal transmission from the light sensors to the evaluation electronics, insensitive to electromagnetic interference sources.
Optoelectronic PD measurement
Optical detection and localisation of partial discharges in GIS, lines and transformers with assignment of the fault type.
UHF measuring systems
Electromagnetic measurement method for mobile partial discharge diagnostics depending on installation type and installation situation.
AC and DC applications
Systems usable in DC and AC voltage installations as well as during HV and SOAK tests.

Quality & Certification
The systems are insensitive to electromagnetic interference sources (UHF, mobile radio, radio/TV) and are quality-assured through mobile PD diagnostics with test report as well as commissioning with handover protocols and commissioning reports. Upon completion of training, the customers' employees receive a certificate.
