Voith – global technology group owned by a family
Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA is a family-owned technology group based in Heidenheim an der Brenz. The group manufactures water turbines and generators for hydro and pumped-storage power plants, complete paper machines (XcelLine) including pulp preparation and equipment, as well as drive systems such as couplings, gearboxes, and the Voith Schneider Propeller for rail, road, and marine use. Historically, the machines originated from in-house foundry production using cast iron, later steel cast; components such as ball valves up to 60 t are overhauled and replaced. In addition to new manufacturing, the portfolio includes service throughout the entire lifecycle: maintenance, repair, overhaul, roller service, Yankee cylinder service, retrofit, and predictive maintenance. Customers come from the energy, paper and packaging, raw materials, oil and gas, wind power, and transport and mobility industries. Voith has locations in over 60 countries; according to company figures, a quarter of global hydropower is produced using Voith turbines.
