About Volocopter

Volocopter Technologies GmbH (formerly e-volo GmbH, later Volocopter GmbH) is a German aviation company based in Bruchsal that develops electric VTOL aircraft (eVTOL) for passengers as well as cargo drones. Its products include the two-seater air taxi aircraft VoloCity and VoloRegion, the ultralight aircraft VoloXPro, the cargo drone VoloDrone and the digital fleet management platform VoloIQ. All aircraft are purely electrically powered, take off and land vertically, and emit no CO2 in flight. In 2011 the VC1 demonstrator completed the first manned flight of an electric multicopter (Guinness Book of Records); in 2024 the company received approval from the German Federal Aviation Authority (Luftfahrtbundesamt) for series production of the VoloCity. At the end of December 2024 Volocopter filed for insolvency and was acquired in 2025 by the Austrian aircraft manufacturer Diamond Aircraft (owner: Wanfeng Aviation Industry). Further offices and development sites are located in Munich and Singapore.
