About the Bergmann Bag and Tarpaulin Factory
W. Bergmann Säcke u. Planenfabrik was a family-owned technical fabricating business founded in 1920 in Breslau and based in Freising since 1946. Products included bags – originally made of jute, later of plastic, including special bags for the hop harvest – as well as truck tarpaulins, cover tarps, awnings, privacy and sun protection, and tarpaulin frames. A focus was on special custom-made products such as tank interior liners, the lining of water and swimming pools, and the manufacture of biogas storage membranes from plastic tarpaulins. The range was complemented by advertising signage, initially using stencils, later screen printing and eco-friendly latex digital printing. Plastic tarpaulins, films and fabricated textiles were processed. Customers included industry, agriculture and municipalities; for the city of Freising, among other things, the red tree-planting pots of the town center were made. The operation on Haindlfinger Strasse was closed at the end of 2018 due to a lack of a successor.
