About Walkro
Walkro was founded in 1991 in Maasmechelen (Belgium) and has developed into a leading supplier in the champignon industry. The company produces high-quality fully grown substrate for the cultivation of champignons. The basis is agricultural residual materials, in particular horse and poultry manure, which are processed into a natural growing medium mixture. With more than 240 employees, Walkro is active in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and supplies growers throughout Europe. The process is an example of circular agriculture: residual streams from agriculture are utilized and form the basis for millions of kilograms of champignons. The headquarters and production site are located in Maasmechelen; a capacity of approximately 9,000 tonnes of substrate per week is stated.
