About Walter Wissing & Co.
Walter Wissing & Co. is an eyewear manufactory founded in 1953 and based in Bensheim. For over 70 years, the company has been handcrafting cellulose acetate eyewear frames – every model in every colour and every size, as an individual one-off piece. The core business is white-label manufacturing: opticians worldwide have their own collections produced in Bensheim; the frames are represented in around 30 countries. In addition to eyewear frames, the company produces jewellery such as rings made from cellulose acetate. With the realcycle® line, handcrafted one-off pieces are made from 100 % recycled acetate: from production offcuts (approx. 150 g of waste per 15 g frame), the manufactory produces new raw sheets that flow back into production. At the Bensheim site, the company also operates a Signature Store with optician services.
