About the Wasser- und Abwasserverband Wittstock

The Wasser- und Abwasserverband Wittstock (WAV Wittstock) is a statutory association (Zweckverband) and a public-law corporation headquartered in Wittstock/Dosse, Brandenburg. The association operates the public drinking water supply and wastewater disposal in its association area, including the operation of waterworks, well facilities and wastewater treatment plants. The Wittstock waterworks supplies around 12,878 inhabitants (as of 31.12.2021) with fresh water; sewage removal is carried out in cooperation with AWU OPR. Since 2022, the association has operated its own ground-mounted PV systems at the Babitz well facility (60.0 kWp) and the Wittstock waterworks (51.0 kWp) in order to partially cover the electricity consumption of its operating facilities itself and reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, the association implements infrastructure measures such as the wastewater diversion from the Heiligengrabe wastewater treatment plant to the Wittstock wastewater treatment plant with funding from the State of Brandenburg.
